GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
As the Assistant Buildings Manager, you will join a management team responsible for the general maintenance of the entire Museum facility. You will assist in the management of construction/installation work performed by the department in exhibition spaces. You will help to direct and oversee the day-to-day activities of Museum union shop staff who are engaged in exhibition construction and installation as well as miscellaneous projects and repairs throughout the Museum's galleries and public spaces.
The fast-paced Special Exhibition and gallery rotation schedule requires a flexible schedule with responsibilities to include; monitoring after-hours demo, directing early arriving contractors and providing oversight on occasional weekends to meet rigid deadlines.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Assist in management of trade shop personnel particularly as it relates to exhibition construction and installation.
Monitor and direct activities of contractual labor on various exhibition projects.
In collaboration with Exhibitions, Finance and Capital Projects, assist in the planning and budgeting of exhibitions projects including the design, bidding, contracting, scheduling and installation of galleries.
Assist with general facility maintenance tasks.
Answer service requests from all Museum departments as needed.
Assist in the organization and maintenance of departmental records and work requests
Coordinating demo scope for exhibition spaces and monitoring after-hours demo
Assist in the development and communication of project plans, schedules and budgets
Assist in coordination with curators, administrators, designers, conservators and facilities teams to ensure proper installation and de-installation of special exhibition and permanent gallery spaces
Other buildings/facilities related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience required
3 to 5 years of construction project management related experience required
Experience providing direction and leadership to trades professionals
Experience with the display and installation of fine art is preferred
Ability to communicate and build relationships with employees at all levels across the Museum
Previous experience managing a team of specialized employees preferred
Knowledge of construction methods and materials required
Knowledge of construction contracts and bid process preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
COMPENSATION RANGE:
Pay Range: $115,000.00 - $118,000.00 / Annually
