Summary
This position is located in Medical Services of the Rosebud Service Unit (RSU) Indian Health Service (IHS) Hospital in Rosebud, SD.
The purpose of this position is to provide clinical psychiatric nurse practitioner services under the supervision of the Behavior Health Director.

- Responsible for child, adolescent and adult psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of a quality expected from a nationally certified Family Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
- Performs and documents a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation that includes evaluation of mental status, current and past history of violence, suicidal or self-harm behavior, substance use, level of functioning, health behaviors, trauma, sexual behaviors, and social and developmental history.
- Develops a treatment plan for mental health problems and psychiatric disorders based on evidence based standards of care, biopsychosocial theories, and current practice guidelines.
- Makes diagnosis and decisions concerning medical and nursing care needs of patient's level of care for mentally ill patients.
- Provide consultative psychiatric evaluations and recommendations to requesting health care personnel in the outpatient, in patient, emergency room, and community.

Basic Requirements
Education
A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the , , , or an accrediting body recognized by the at the time the degree was obtained.
Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.

Licensure

Experience

Basic Requirements for the GS-13 (or equivalent) Grade Level
In addition to the mandatory license and education described above under Basic Requirements applicants must have at least one or more full years of professional nursing experience that is equivalent to the next lower grade level.

Provides independent diagnostic, preventive and therapeutic psychiatric nursing and medical services for patients of varying complexity and advanced nature utilizing advanced clinical and analytical skills.
