In supporting the CA program director, the Founding Director of the Center for Comedic Arts, and the Assistant Director of the Center for Comedic Arts, Administrative Assistant, Comedic Arts will ensure timely and effective operations for this program as well as provide support for various meetings and events. This position requires strong attention to detail, great communication, problem solving and organizational skills. The Comedic Arts program at Emerson College is an interdisciplinary program serving student majors through classes and with faculty from academic departments in The School of the Arts.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
- Maintain calendars and schedule meetings.
- Manage program correspondence and communication with students, faculty, staff, and alumni—this may include writing newsletters, actively posting on social media, and updating web pages.
- Assist with course scheduling.
- Facilitate communication between CA and academic departments.
- Provide support for events and public programs at both Boston & ELA campuses; including but not limited to event planning, promotion, execution, and post-event administration.
- Support admissions efforts which include corresponding with prospective students, connecting prospective students with current faculty & students, gathering materials for campus-wide admissions events, and attending events as needed.
- Assist with travel arrangements.
- Assist with purchasing supplies, and payment for guest speakers.
- Assist the Comedic Arts Curriculum Committee by scheduling meetings, keeping detailed meeting notes, organizing files, and distributing paperwork that pertains to major, or course curriculums.
- Assist with Comedy Committee Meetings by coordinating meeting times, gathering agenda items, keeping detailed records, and following up as needed.
- Maintain and update the Comedic Arts Shared Drive.
- Liaison between administration, faculty, and students who are attending the Comedic Arts Conservatory Program (ELA).
- Coordinate peer mentorship programming; including outreach, facilitation of pairing students, and planning, hosting, and executing internal programming.
- Onboard and oversee Graduate Student Assistant work and set aside time to meet with them one-on-one each week.
- Creating up-to-date resources for faculty advisors during the Academic Advising period.
- Assist the Program Director with registration permissions and communicating with students to handle their registration needs.
- Maintain up-to-date records of undergraduate students and alumni.
- Coordinate with and support Institutional Advancement and/or Alumni Services on any programming, or initiatives that involve Alumni of the program.
- Support community engagement and outreach.
QUALIFICATIONS – Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to perform the job effectively.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in the Arts is strongly preferred or 2 years of work experience in the Arts serves as equivalent experience.
- Two years of working in the administrative field.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES – May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledge, skills, and abilities commonly associated with the job.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize current office software—word processing, spreadsheets, relational databases, and presentation graphics. Proficiency with MS Office and Google Suite software is required.
- Fluency with social media, and willingness and ability to learn.
- Awareness of current trends and their effect on an academic environment.
- Design and basic coding skills are a plus.
- Strong writing skills.
- Strong verbal communication skills—the ability to listen and talk with a wide range of individuals; from students to faculty to administration.
- Strong organization skills & attention to detail.
- Excellent ability to work collaboratively as well as independently.
- Ability to prioritize and advance multiple projects and tasks, and complete work by set deadlines.
- Experience with planning events.

Hybrid
This position is primarily a hybrid role with expected days in the office each week.
The hybrid arrangement will be made upon hire. Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the Boston campus to ensure operational effectiveness. This arrangement must be approved as outlined in the Remote Work Policy.
